Oh I just love being a Wedding Photographer, especially around Boston. There are so many places, landscapes, scenes and vibes and they’re all so unique. One day I can be shooting a posh city wedding and the next day I’ll be out in the wilderness or on some of the finest beaches on the east coast. I do feel very lucky.
Why else do I feel lucky?
To have awesome couples, not only sometimes, but all of the time. My girl Traci (who’s wedding I shot in June) passed along my name to her friend Maria who called me up and wanted to do an engagement shoot. I said absolutely, let’s do it. So I headed down to Hingham and met up with the beautiful Maria and her fiance Noah. They are such a great couple with lots of personality and spunk. I had a great time with them running in the sand and splashing in the ocean.

As I walked up to the Engfer house it was 101 degrees (and rising). I had my dorky rolling bag-o-camera equipment, my camera (obvi.) and my water bottle. I really didn’t care what the temperature was, I was sure that Melanie & Brad’s wedding was going to be out of this world amazing… and it was! Warmly greeted by her family and girls when I walked in the door, we all hung out during hair and make up. I love that quiet time with the bride and all of her girls, it’s the time where everyone is telling stories, laughing and getting ready to light it up! And boy did they ever…
Fast forward to the First Look. Yes, Melanie + Brad knew that pictures were very important to their day, but so was the actual day itself and didn’t want to miss out on any of it. I placed Brad on the bridge… all alone and in anticipation, just waiting for his bride to sneak up behind him. We first played a little peek a boo, took a few photos and then the big reveal.
From the hair and make up to the last dance of the night, Melanie & Brad were in heaven. The love they share and the fun they have together was on full display that day and in turn we made some beautiful art. I wish Melanie and Brad all the happiness, laughter and adventure (and can’t wait until they have babies so I can photograph them!)

It was a hot day and the sun was shining, but it cooled off just in time for Katie to walk down the aisle. Katie and Jimmy had a very beautiful wedding at The Coonamessett Inn on Cape Cod. Katie went after the yellow and grey theme {which I love} and they added so many details that made the day their own.
We had so much fun creating portraits at the beach, I was running all over the place, in the water, on the beach… the lighting was just killer. The love that Katie and Jimmy share is so inspiring and so apparent when they’re together, it really made this day so much fun to capture.

She wakes up at 5:30 am Monday-Friday, gets ready for work, wakes up the kids, get’s them ready for school/day care, drops them off at school/daycare, goes to work managing the Speech Pathology department at Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center, Â picks the kids up from school/daycare, takes them to gymnastics, soccer and swimming, cooks them dinner, helps with homework, plays with them, gives them a tubby, puts them to bed, makes lunches for tomorrow, finishes up work she didn’t get done in the office…and finally unwinds with her man.
Those are just  a few jobs of any given mom, and in this case, my sister Kristy the super-mom. Watching her in action usually leaves me puzzled, how did you get all that done and how do you still have energy?! {Don’t ask me}
Anyway, she wanted to do a family photo shoot {we’re working on the configuration of prints/frames for her giant living room wall… it’s going to be mega awesome, stay tuned!}. Here are a few of the photos we created while they were in Boston to visit.

And my personal Fav
Summer time… and the livin’ is… well, it’s been really super busy for me. I was happy that I could find time to have my sister Kristy and her family here to visit for a few days. She comes with Luke and the kids at least once a summer to enjoy the New England sites. It’s always fun to have my gal pal and niece Kyleigh by my side and to see how quickly Cohen and Quinn are growing. The boys are both complete hams and all three of them will do anything to make you laugh. The boys also love to see their BFF Justin {and Justin loves having a good reason to watch cartoons and act like a kid again}.
Life moves so quickly and I find it’s very important to make time to spend on these short but epic moments. I guess it all circles back to balance, which is hard to do mid-wedding season!
Here is a little snippet of my heaven…
Peace, Love & Wet & Wild Fun,
April K
